About Me
My name is Leah A. Busque, but some of you might remember me as Leah A. Solivan. I was married in 2002 to a wonderful guy name Kevin. We are actually high school sweethearts – met when we were 15 years old and have been attached at the hip ever since. One great wedding gift – my new name – more specifically, my new initials. You see, before I was a LAS. LAS means nothing, it doesn’t make sense. But now, I am a LAB. LAB is much cooler because it references many things, including my 100+ pound yellow LABrador retriever, Kobe. Hence, the name of my blog was born – LAB unleashed. Referring to both my dog and myself … scary! That’s Kobe up there in sidebar … he’s the one with the thick neck and giant head! "Unleashed" doesn’t do nearly enough to describe Kobe’s spunk and energy. He was NOT named after Kobe Bryant. This is a point of confusion Kevin and I hit all the time. He was named after the Japanese Kobe beef. Kevin knew he was going to be a big beefy Labrador. Sometimes we just call him meat head.
I spent 7 years as a software engineer for IBM’s Messaging and Collaboration Development Team. One morning I woke up and realized, I really just couldn’t work in the big corporate culture any longer, and many months later, after much deliberation and planning, I decided to take the leap and fulfill my dream of pursuing a project of my own. In September of 2008 I founded a company called RunMyErrand. RunMyErrand is a social networking inspired web and mobile platform that provides people and businesses a quick, easy, and green way to get tasks done that they don’t have the time, ability, or desire to do themselves. Equally important, RunMyErrand provides a means for people to make money doing small jobs for others. The application is designed to be on-demand, fast paced, mobile and pervasive, with a hip web 2.0 vibe. Aggregating tasks in a hyper local community and facilitating connections in a trusted Service Network is at the functional core. The key is capturing a paradigm shift on the web where social networking is meeting e-commerce to create a new standard we are calling "Service Networking", and RunMyErrand is pioneering this new standard.
My blog chronicles different interests of mine. Everything from entrepreneaurship, traveling, cooking, mathematics and programming, to my desperate attempts to speak Spanish and pretend I am a professional dancer – ballet people … BALLET! I always try to keep it classy. I am open to comments!
